QDM Fault?

Have QDM Fault lit up on mechanic's dianostic monitor....what does that indicate? Car is turning over, won't start, backfires periodically.

The QDM in on the ECM directly, not the Chip. I would think the ECM is bad, swap the MEMCAL from your old ECM to a new one and it should work. you can get the ECM at a local Auto Parts store like Murray's, Autozone or Pep Boys
