Hey guys, over the winter I obtained a Q-jet that was originally on a '79 L-82. I bought it because for the last 5 years I have been reading on this site how good a properly tuned Quad is. This carb had been "restored" to original specs by a local carb shop here in Dayton. After installing a Quad compatable intake and the carb itself I am thrilled to tell you that my '74 coupe has never run better. My shark has undergone numerous mech. mods to it's #'s matching L-82 so I just figured that I needed an aftermarket carb to get the engines full potential. From the properly set choke/high idle to the "throw you back in the seat" throttle response, this is without a doubt the best my the vette has ever performed.
I've said it before, the members on this forum know they stuff. Thanks for being here for guys like me. peace Bud

A good Q-jet is hard to beat!!As long as you don't open the secondaries they get better gas mileage than a Holley or Carter!! They will however deliver the Fuel from the Massive secondaries Like Flushing the Toilet!!

I agree. That is why I went to EFI.:L

I could never get the Q-jet to work for me so I decided to ditch them. It is truly a great thing when the sum of the parts works out.

Glad it is working for you, rgtrough!
