1966,and a 1962 thats almost complete
Good morning ALL As some of you know I love to see shiny new hardware on my car (the small details make for an excellent restoration) Well I just recived my new Quanta catalog and they offfer a drive shaft refinishing service,It makes it look brand new .Has anybody ever used there drive shaft service???

Hey there... well, no experience w/ Quanta, but I did just receive my new driveshaft from Zip, and I must say this thing is gorgeous. Shines like highly polished aluminum w/ new U-Joints and hardware.

It's going in w/ my new 406 in a couple weeks so we'll have some pics up soon. :beer

On a guess, 1h2lose, I would say it's a rebored small block 400.

If you use a s/b 400 crank with a 350, it works out to a 383 (longer stroke) but there's no way you could punch a 350 out enough to increase 383 to 406.

I didn't think a 400 block would bolt up to the same bellhousing but I guess if you're changing the engine, it's easy enough to change the bellhousing!

Thanks What is a 406 is it a punched out small block ?

I've never seen their driveshaft restorations, but I can tell you that Quanta is a "class" operation. I know the husband/wife owners, Gary and Kelly Whiting. They are terrific people. They belong to my local NCRS Chapter, Mason Dixon. Their business is located about 15 miles from me in Rising Sun/North East, Maryland. I don't think you could go wrong with anything Quanta does. Don't wanna hi-jack your thread, here, but Yep, Mac's got it right. We're dropping in a 400 SBC bored to a 406. We're using the Chevy #xxxx621 bellhousing which supports the use of an 11" clutch and the 400 flywheel.

It'll be a few weeks, but stay tuned for the pics... this one's gonna be fun.

Chuck thank you for the strong recomendation ,I was nervous sending my shafts out ( I would hate to have to replace if they wernt returned) I will call tomorow and see how they suggest I package them for shipping .
