Question About 1980 L82????

I drive a BMW 325XI daily and love the way it handles, specially in the snow. We got 6 inches this past weekend.

Since I have never drove a Vett how do they handle and what can I expect. Any observations will be greatly appreciated. The car has had tons of work done on it. I have the listing at my job. I had the Vett inspected by a fellow Vett mechanic in Florida and found the car to be in perfect condition.

I'm on my 6th Vette. Five of 'em C3's. I don't have any experience with BMW's, however, IMHO, old Vette's and snow don't mix well. There great in an open parking lot with the posi rear you can have a lot of fun. On the streets I'd be a lot more cautious. I can't imagine that the posi rear would be much help- only a hinderance- lots of slipping due to traction loss and the possibility of getting hung up in deep snow because of the low ground clearence. I would not personally take it out in bad weather. I'll bet the C4, 5 and 6's tell a different story.

That's how I treat my Vette. I have the Mercury for my daily driver.

To me the corvette is for your sunny day, tops off driving. I drive mine in cold weather, but never bad weather. I have had a BMW before also, and they are in a different ballgame alltogether as far as handling compared to a C3. The C3's other characteristics are the reason they are an enjoyable car (looks, V8, style, rear wheel muscle, etc). I enjoy my Vette more than I ever did my BMW. From a reliablility standpoint the Vette actually wins out in my experience.
