Hey guys, I've been searching for a new targa top for my 94 for almost 8 months now. I finally got one...still had the GM protective cover on it and everything, only problem is there is about a 3 inch "mark" on the drivers side. It appears to be some type of dried glue. I thought it would come off with a little elbow grease and glass cleaner...but no such luck. I even tried using Mothers Bug and Tar remover, still no luck. Anybody have ANY suggestions on how to get it off...or am I doomed to bang my head against a wall and scream profanity's ? :( Thanks...Don

Have you tried Un-Du? I don't know if it'll help you, but it's worth a try. It certainly won't damage it any. Good stuff for removing glue and stickers. :upthumbs

Well, I'm at my wits end now. What at first appeared to be some sort of glue mark on my new top,now appears to be a scratch. :mad I got this top on ebay, and have paid for it,but I wanted it shipped overnight so I still owe the seller additional shipping charges. I don't want to screw the guy for the additional shipping (it was substantial) but I also expected a top free from scratches and or defects. I guess my question now is...does anyone have experience in removing scratches from a glass top? Do you think it can be removed? Do you think a glass shop could remove it? I've added a picture of the scratch, although it's not a great pic. I also went back to the auction listing and looked closely and discovered that the protective film was ripped at the spot where this scratch is. :mad I've emailed the seller and am waiting for his reply. I swear thats the last time I ever bid on an expensive item on ebay. What would you folks do if you were in my shoes? Thanks.....Don

You can sand and polish it out.Depending on how deep the scratch is you may have to start out with 1000 grit sand paper and work it down with finer grit paper. Then use a plactis polish to shine it back up.Its the same technique to polish out orange peel on a paint job.

I bought 2 tops on ebay for my 85. All I can say is "never again." They were both broken when they got here. Not sure if they were broken before they were shipped or during shipping. What a pain, Guy

Have you tried to get back to ebay, they are of some help with problems in things they advertise. If it's on the inside, get one of the sun screens from Mid America, keeps the sun out and hides the scratch.

Turns out it's a scratch, not dried glue. :mad It's on the outside but at least it's not in the area that you look up through. I'm going to have to take it to a body shop and see if they can sand it and polish it. I'd try to do it myself but I think I better let someone with experience do it instead. The auction clearly stated "brand new", and while it does appear to be new, it was obviously scratched before being listed. Guess I'm done buying expensive items through ebay-I'll just stick to the $20-$30 things from now on.
