I am having trouble with understanding the zo7 emblems. I know only 733 were manufactured in 1991 but the Corvette Black Book only list one automatic was made. I have lately saw many on ebay and elsewhere claiming to be the one. My zo7 is 6-speed and has the zo7-5.7 on the rear bumper. Could someone tell me if only those 733 had the emblem. And why so many automatic vettes say they are zo7's. Thanks

I don't think that the emblem on the back is from the factory. You can buy them from Ecklers, MAM, Corvette America, etc. There seems to be some question about how many Z07 autos were built in 91. I think the Black Book says at least 1. The only way to know for sure is to verify the RPO codes. On my 94 they are under the console lid. Some were under the door behind the seats (passenger side I think). Just look for the Z07 option code to know for sure.

Before I'd buy one off ebay claiming to be the "Only 91 Auto Z07" I'd darn sure want to check the RPO codes against the VIN to be sure of what it is.

Oddly enough, the thread on the other forum has a link to an article in our knowledgebase here. :crazy

In our tech center , (click) it says there were 733 with the Z07 option produced. But it still doesn't solve the question of how many of those were autos, or why there are so many claiming to be.

I was just looking at thr RPO sticker on my coupe (finally). I was suprised to see I had the J55 brakes. I looked closely at the rotors yesterday and thought they looked big for some reason. Then I saw the J55 on the RPO. I had no clue what the Z07 was....but now I do. But, mine is another 6 spd Z07.

:D

Big Brakes were part of the Z07 package. That was my first clue when I bought mine...."J55 hummm big brakes, OK Z07 what is that? Performance handling package. Only 881 made in 94. My car is something more than just another vette."

I actually was a little disappointed after I bought my 94 (but before it actually got shipped to me) because I really thought I wanted the 95 or 96 because the J55 became standard in 95. (The 94 was just too good to pass up) But when I got it and started checking the RPO's and found I had the J55 I was elated, then to find it was Z07, well, icing on the cake.

Along with the J55, KC4, FX3 etc. on the RPO on my 1991 it also has the ZO7 listed. That's what I look for in the RPO.

In the last week on the Corvette Forum we have had a thread going on this very subject. I once asked Gordon Killebrew about these and he said he thought there were several automatic Z-07's not just one. Z-07 Freak is the keeper of the count on the 91 Z-07 automatics and we have documented 4 so far. I have one of the four.:D BTW I bought my 5.7 - Z-07 bumper emblem from Corvette Central.
