This may sound like a really dumb question but how do i know if i have aluminum, or cast iron hears? :confused
Its a 90 L98....
Thanks

A 90 should have aluminum heads. If your curious, try using a magnet. If it doesn't stick, they're aluminum

There are no dumb questions, some just need a little tutoring.

If it is original what he said ^^^^^^ :)

Well said:D ......thanks for the replies guys. I figured it was but i trust what you guys say on here so i thought i would get a second opinion.

The aluminum heads were standard beginning in mid-1986 on the convertibles, with some installed on coupes late in that same year. In 1987 all Corvettes came equipped with aluminum heads.

This from our Model Center (part of the TECH CENTER):
Aluminum cylinder heads were delayed half way through the model year due to cracking around the head attachment bosses which caused a redesign. As a result, all 1986 convertibles and late production coupes received the aluminum cylinder heads. The last 8,594 are believed to have received these heads. The aluminum cylinder heads resulted in an increase in horsepower to 235 hp; up 5hp from the previous model year.

Thanks Ken, i was looking around through the techcenter but i guess i missed that.
