Questions About Factory Anti-Theft System

I just bought my first vette a few months back and am still trying to learn some things...in this case, the factory anti-theft system. After using the search function, I still have a few questions. By the way, it's a '76.

1. The previous owner (2nd owner of car) told me he never attempted to try it out in fear that it would get stuck and he wouldn't be able to turn it back off. Anybody know of this happening and am I crazy to want to try it myself and see if it works?
2. Particular to a '76, where is the alarm horn? Is it using the main horn or is it separate (I've read both and am confused)?
3. This may be a stupid question, but...does the anti-theft alarm go off if someone attempts to open the door even if it's unlocked?

The alarm only goes off if you open a door or the hood.
Later models go when the t top is removed. PG.
