Hi

Can anyone tell me if the wheels on my car are originals or not.. My car is a 1985 corvette with Z51 suspention package.. And yes i know that tins is not the normal wheel that are on the 1985.. What makes me think that it is an origilan wheel is that there is the corvette logo in the center, and that it does say Z51 in the cast.. Also i have seen these wheels on sale as corvette wheel.. The dimesions are 16x9 (which is not what the blackbook says, but there are LOTS of typos in it)..

No they are not originals, and if they are I have never seen a rim like that before. If you go into the model center and look in the C4 section there should be a picture of a C4 rim from 84-87 are all the same just different insert colors. I will try to find a picture of one of my rims and post it later.

Hehe, jonas hompege acctualy the guy who this argument started out with in the first place :)..

But if it's not original equipment, Why does the rim say Z51, have the corvette logo, correct offset (ohyes aftermarket rims can have that), and that there are corvettes with these rims around.. And the fact that i have seen these rims been sold as corvette rims...

I will post the cast nr and whatever text there is on the inside tomorrow...

They are not OE wheels.
They might be Gottis but more likely are Gotti knock-offs. Anyone can stick a Corvette logo on a center cover.

Also, there are NOT a lot of typos in the Corvette Black Book. There are, however, several typos in the above post.

nope, not OE wheels. I have seen them before, but can't remember who makes them.

Fact: Center sections and radial slots of 1987 wheels were painted argent gray. 1986 wheel centers were not painted. Centers and radial slots for 1984 and 1985 were painted black.

These are the Gotti's I had on awhile back...

I have seen them before I believe in a speed shop someplace. Maybe they are American Racing wheels with a Center Vette logo as others have sugested. I think they look pretty good. If you can polish them up and maybe get some new center caps (the one pic looks like it has bubbled paint) they go well with your nice looking silver car. Mike

I had to look real close, because I was trying to figure out how you got a pic of my car! 1985 Coupe, Metallic gray, Gotti Wheels. Then I noticed yours is two-tone gray.

Yes, they are Gotti or Gotti knockoffs. Where are the bolts around the perimeter that hold the wheel together?:bu

Polishing? Those wheels hurt my fingers so bad trying to clean them ... :cry

That's why I switched back to one-piece wheels like my Borbetts:

Well, don't be surprised about my typos, I'm still just a dyslexic Sweed :/ (hej hopp gummi snopp).. And I since the black book couldn't get the Vin nr correct on the 85, I simply dont trust it.. But that off topic..

Here is Gid on the crossfire folums carvette.. And it's the same rims.. Could it be a dealer option maybe?? Another thing I have heard on another forum is that they are Paint matched with the car (which gids wheels also are)
