My light in the face of my 1996 vette's Bose radio has suddenly gone out. Not the end of the world problem but you know how we vette owners are about everything being perfect. Wondering is there anyway easy to fix this or is this a problem where the radio will have to come out and fix the light? Can anyone help?

I got bulbs from one of the corvette radio places on the internet. They were frightfully expensive and not exact replacements. They were not hard to replace if you have done electronic pc board soldering. You could probabably get bulbs at radio shack for a lot less. To send your unit away is at least a $200 bill, but that will get you a cleaned interior, new belts and pinch rollers and a lube job, as well as new bulbs and anything fixed that is broken. Also, a test out, too.

Even though I changed my own bulbs, the CD part went out and now its in Florida getting refurbished.

I recently repaired my radio and replaced all three bulbs in the face that light up the display screen. The RadioShack part number for the bulbs is 272-1154. The hardest one to solder is in the center of the display. It is fairly easy if you have a soldering iron with a sucker built in and suck all of it from the holes, and then place the bulb in and while holding it in from the front solder it in. Do you know how many are out? If it is just one bulb burnt out and you know which one it is, I have a spare and would be happy to put it in for you if you send me the receiver unit, as long as you pay for shipping.

Hope this helps,
Shane

Bose Radio Lights.

I have had an interesting experience with the radio in my 94 coupe. I bought a Bose/Delco radio/CD player off of E-Bay. It was suppose to be for 92 to 96 Corvettes....WRONG! It was a GM radio, but not for my car. I took it to a stereo shop, who said they could modifiy it to fit in my car....another mistake.

Anyway, after everything was done...the radio worked great...except...the backlighting for the controls stayed on all the time. I didn't realize this for several weeks, and I couldn't figure out what was draining my battery down. One day, I went into the garage, with the lights off, and saw the radio "glowing" inside the car. Since then I have replaced the CD unit with the stock radio, and I am looking for someone to bench test this CD unit, to find out why the lights stay on all the time. Anyone else had this problem??
