Radio Problem

Just purchased a '92 coupe, here's the problem. The radio stays on after I turn the ignition off. I'm assuming this is because the power antenna is not working and doesn't retract or extend, it is up about 12" as it is. I have to turn the radio off manually. Am I right in assuming the antenna is the culprit? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Even after exiting the car? After you turn the car off, open and close your drivers door before getting out and see if the radio shuts off. There is a delay built in that allows the radio and power windows to operate after shutting the car off, until you open the drivers door.

I must be the biggest idiot on earth. Would have never guessed it worked that way. Only had it for 3 days, still playing with all the doodads. Anything else I should know about before making a fool of myself? Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Congrats on being a new Corvette owner. That's what this Forum is all about, helping to answer questions. Don't be too shy to ask or feel silly doing so. We are all here to help one another and make the Corvette ownership a thing of pleasure.

If you have the owners manual, make sure you read it. There are are lot of little things you'd never know about unless you read it all. If you don't have one, I suggest you purchase one.

You would be suprised how many people don't read it and find things out about their car, even after owning for quite awhile.

Thank you. I have the original owners manual. I had read that the windows would function for approximately 2 minutes after turning off the ignition, hadn't got to the radio section. Like they say, "When in doubt, get the instructions out". I had always wanted a Corvette, since about the age of 10, and now it has finally happened. Looks as though I have some more reading to do. Thanks again.
