well, good thing I learned about the setscrews on the midyear radios! I would have tried to just yank the things off and probably pulled the whole shaft out of the radio......... ;LOL

well, I did say I didn't have any experience with radios this old....... :)

Yeah..that would been a fun Barry Post...

How Do You Install The Shafts Back In the Radio Once You Have Pulled Them Out For Service.

;LOL

Barry,
I should see my car next Thursday. It's been six months in winter storage. Irene Cara, "What a Feeling." What more can I say? Perhaps Carly Simon's "Anticipation." Geez I miss this car. I am pumped up. I will post a pic on homecoming.

By the way, the updated radio comes with an extra 12-volt take off on the main harness. The purpose is to operate a power antenna when you turn on the radio.

However, '67s come with a fixed-height mast, so.................... what could I use this feature for?

Hmmmmm :confused How about when I turn on the radio, it automatically turns on some disco lights around the windows?

What do you think, VNV? :rotfl

I don't know about this thread....I have tried so hard over the years to forget Suzanne Sommers and Saturday Night Fever. Now it's back!!

I discovered a minor problem when I tried to plug in the included AUX-IN cable.

Once the driver's side radio panel is reinstalled, there's no room for the RCA plugs between the panel and the radio.

(the red and white plugs in above photo)

I advised Greg of the problem. I'm trying to find a cable with 90-degree RCA plus (instead of straight RCA plugs). Failing that, I'll try to find 90-degree RCA adaptors (male one end; female the other).

Not sure why I didn't run into that problem. Mine fit fine without any interferance issues with the side cover.

It fits well with both the 64 stock side cover as well as the Classic Air side cover.

Could it be because your side panels have the vent operators in them (67 only)?

Yeah..how about a pic Heaven.. Show us a shot of side pannel..:)

Most stereo install shops carry a variety of adapters; usually around $10.

Thanks, Mac. That's where I got them today. I pulled up front in Heaven, and the install-shop emptied out. Technicians and customers (all Hondas, Subarus, etc.) stood there stunned at the sight of old American muscle. ;)

I think I've figured out the tight space problem. The new console I installed has forks (wings) that are closer together than the original. It was enough of a difference to bring the radio side panel too close to the radio. The difference was about 3/4", but the 90-degree adapters fixed the problem.

I'm posting from the garage on the same notebook that's playing MP3s through the radio right now. :upthumbs

Can it get much better? :D

Did you offer to give any of them an "old school" lesson in the meaning of horsepower? Nice to know the young'uns appreciate quality.

Why, Mac, I'm shocked. Are you suggesting something in contravention of The Highway Traffic Act? :rotfl
