hey guys, im sure this has been brought up before but havent had any luck in the search.. I'm thinking about raising my c5 up maybe a 1/2"- 1" for ground clearance reasons. I scrape almost everytime i take the car out and it kind of gets frustrating. ecspecially pulling into my gagrage. I think a half inch or so more ground clearance woud make a big difference.. so is there any ways to do this without heavy modification? i'm thinking mounting c6 rims/tires..that would prob give me about 1/2" more clearance. but then again its gonna be costly$.. what do you guys think?
thanks

C5's can be raised about 1 1/4 -1 1/2 inches from stock height usually with stock adjustment bolts with out to much trouble!! You will have to have the 4 wheel alignment done though,It will change everything in the alignment!:thumb

o wow, i never knew you could adjust it that easily.. do you know where i could find info on how to do this?

Your best bet is to find a good alignment shop that is experienced at these cars and have them do it!:thumb They have the rack with jacks built into it to raise and lower the car as needed to set it up!!Besides, the 4 wheel alignment will have to be done on the rack anyway!!:thumb:thumb

PS I see you have a 98,are you sure the springs aren't getting weak and letting the vehicle sag??
My 03 I don't have allot of problem with dragging as long as I pay attention and go across speed bumps and into driveways at a slight angle!!:thumb:thumb:thumb My 01 Z06 has been lowered about 1 1/2-2 inches and it drags on a Bull Frogs turd!!:boogie:boogie:boogie

If you lower the car, as GM junkie, and I have both done, the car handles even better than at stock hieght. Looks awsome as well. If you raise the car I suspect it would handle worse. You should try to lower a cars center of gravity, not raise it. That said, why in heck would you want to raise the car? It looks like a 4x4 stock, as it is. As far as the scraping, that piece is on a hinge, it's made to take that abuse. Mines lowered and I love it. But, if you really want to raise it up the stock bolts are very easy to deal with.
