Ramps? Rhino?

You pays your money and takes your chances. Or, you get what you pay for.
Some tools just work better than others. And sometimes they cost more because of it.

I'd love to have a 4-post lift but that ain't in my budget yet. So, I live with ramps.

Several years ago I built a set of wooden ramps like those in the link.
They worked OK but it took three man and a boy to move them.

I have a set of the black Rino Ramps but only use them to change oil on my 4x4 and it won't climb them without putting it in 4 wheel drive.
I would never try putting the vette up on them.

Thanks for the advice, it would seem the black Rhino's are out of the question.

Previous post, "three men and a boy." HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

Good one.

I don’t want to talk you into anything but I purchased a pair the other day and they worked fine. I did have to build a set of pre ramps out of 1" plywood. At 1st I was concerned that I would drive past the stops so I had my son in the garage watching. Now that I’ve done it once I’ll feel much more convertible next time.
The Rhino ramp has a hole in the front of the ramp. I drilled a hole through the plywood to correspond with the hole on the rhino and put an aluminum dowel thru the holes connecting the two together. I had beveled the plywood to a point which allowed me to pushed the front edge under the tire. I had no sliding or shifting of the ramp. I position jack stands under the frame and chocks the rear wheels while I was under the car! I did have trouble trying to slide under from the side but no problem sliding under for the front. BTW, my garage has a smooth concrete surface not like a sidewalk!
Good luck
Mike

Now that's good to hear Mike. I will try it also as we have a very similar set up. I will have my wife guide me up on them. I appreciate it. I didn't want to see a set of brand new Rhino ramps (the gray wider ones) go to waste.

One other thing Paul.
When you center the ramps under the front tires take a measurement (at the tire) form the out side edge of both ramps and use the dimension to position the back of the ramps. You’ll also need to sight down the side of the car to make sure they are ramp is in line! It’s kind of hard to explain but one you set it up you’ll see what I mean!

Excellent info Mike, thanks a lot.

94 LT1 automatic, arctic white, gray interior. I LOVE this car!

Not to gloat, but my lift arrived today, I'll try to get it put together this weekend and some pictures posted.

Yeah, I'm jealous, but also happy for you. Posting photos of the installation would be great, I would LOVE to see how it is installed. Do you have to dig a hole in the concrete and re-pour? Is it bolted into the floor? If so I suppose you'd have to rent a hammer drill. Sounds great.

Paul

That is BEAUTIFUL! Now I want one! Beautiful work Tom. We have the same exact car except mine is an LT1. Same color, same year, everything.

Good for you Tom.
