Last night on the way home from work I was stopped at a red light and a Dodge Neon pushed an Olds Aurora into the back of my Vette. My bumper got some scuff marks and might need to be re-clear coated. Just wondering if someone can recommend a paint shop in the southwest suburbs of Chicago.

I might stop in at D&M Corvette in Downers Grove to see what they say about the damage.

Should the bumper and taillights be removed from the car if it has to be clear coated or painted?

Thanks for any advice!

Its best if the taillights are removed but not a must.Check to make sure that the paint isnt spiderweb cracked.Youll have to look close because they will be real thin cracks. The paint may be able to buff it out if its not that bad.

My rear bumper cover got damaged last summer (One of life's embarassing moments.) and I saw new areas of spiderwebbing appear after several months. Apparently when the bumper got severely flexed the cracking started underneath and didn't make it to the surface for some time. I would recommend keeping a close eye on it for awhile. Mine is in the shop now getting a new bumper cover installed. The reason I waited this long is that it took me awhile to find a body shop that I thought would do a good job.
