Question: Rear Bumper

Friend has a c7 and we are trying to find out what the little access panel is on the lower left side of the rear bumper. Panel is maybe 2"x3" below the lights but just above the bottom edge.

Any ideas.

It allows access to the tow hook insert on European models. The tow hook tool would be kept in the Styrofoam top on the battery. If you access the battery, you will see where the tool is kept. For cars sold in the US you do not get the tool and the tow hook is not used.
