Rear - how to drain

How do I get the old out......I know how to get the new in....:confused

86 and the Prop is already out.....replaced the clutch, injectors. fuel pressure regulator....just about done w/ ALL mechanical stuff.....yr 3 of ownership....

Back to my original question please?????

You have three options.

Use a suction pump to take it out through the fill.
Remove the rear of the diff. a real pain.
or drill the bottom and thread for a plug. this is what I did.

You have to be very carefull where you drill and not to hit the ring gear with the bit. If you do a search I think there is a thread on this.

hi there bp's 86 4+3,
i also drilled and tapped a threaded hole in bottm of diff housing to remove all the old difff oil!
a great idea for sure!
makes it so easy to remove oil!
but as glenn said be careful where you drill the hole, not to damage the ring gear!
i drilled no more than 1" into the housing itseself!
i added a little grease to the drill bit to stop alot of the alliminium fillings going
in to the diff itself!
then flushed out the diff housing several times to get rid of the filings!
