Got my new hubs from TLD and they do not have a dust seal. Is this just a new better design or am I screwed?

I noticed your post the other day & no responses so here's one. I'm not 100% sure, but 95% sure both front and rear bearing units are sealed & none serviceable or adjustable. You just R&R per service manual procedure.

Hope this helps.

There is a dust seal that presses into the rear "knuckle" (or "spindle" as it's called also) that NAPA has available. I have a part number for it somewhere, will try to find it tomorrow.

Thanks geekinavette,

So the originals will still be there when you bust off the old hub, probably worth putting new on, eh.

If we're talking about the same thing....

This is a diagram of the rear suspension (I added the stuff in blue):

I think the seal you're talking about is the NAPA PN 21953. I think all it does is just help keep dust/dirt out of the bearing area. It IS a sealed bearing...but every little bit helps I guess.

The other thing to look for is the washer, GM PN 14076924. This washer was a TSB that came out after the '84...I don't recall exactly when. If you get the "klinking" sound from the rear end of the car then you may not have these washers. They are still available from GM.
