I've got my '87 in for transmission work - getting the overdrive replaced with a unit from S-K Speed in New York, and having the manual trans rebuilt, and getting a new clutch and flywheel.
The trans guy said the crank and flywheel is not standard for a 1987 (crank is forged pre 1987 he thinks), as he found after receiving the new flywheel which did not match the old one . I'm having him check into the source of an oil leak. If the oil leak is from the rear main seals, does anyone know what the setup is for this? Does the crank have to be dropped or? My trans guy seems to think the seals cannot be replaced simply from the rear of the engine with the trans out.
I called Callaway CT today, but got a receptionist saying everyone was in Las Vegas
Thanks,
Lee
