Has anyone changed a rear main engine seal without removing the ENGINE?
My concern is re installing the oil pump shafts correctly.
Thank you

Replacing Rear Main Seal

It's easy to do after the oil pump is removed. Just push the upper half out with a thin screwdriver and push the new upper seal half in. Put some non-hardening gasket sealer on the main bearing cap surface before installing it. The oil pump will easily go back in one of two ways and they're both correct. Torque the 7/16" retaining bolt to 60 ft/lbs and put the oil pan back on.

Thank you. That helps confirm my ideas.

Smear oil onto the seal (both sides) before installing it and it'll slip in easily. Just make sure the lip of the seal is pointing foreword because I think it can be put in backwards.
