Rear Main Seal

can somebody please tell me if the rear main
seal on a 1999, 5.7, is a 1 piece or a 2 piece
seal? mine appears to be leaking, only have
27,000 on car. is this unusual? thanks for any
help.

HI there,
You have a one piece rear main seal.
Very unusual for a leak there. However, you might want to see if the oil pressure sensing unit at the rear of the block might be leaking.

Maybe valve covers too,or at least on the older 350's they can leak and run down the back end.

thanks guys for input. taking car in
to check it out this morning. dealer
had me put dye in oil yesterday, then
i drove it, so maybe be easier to pinpoint
where oil is coming from
