Won my 01 Convertible (Triple Black) on auction last month!!! The car is in fantastic shape but ...
I've been having so much fun driving that I never noticed the rear speakers dont work (The door speakers work fine). If I understand other threads in this forum, the rear speakers are mid-range and are powered by the head unit. The Bose amps are for the subwoofers on the door.
I pulled the head unit out, found the speaker connector, and grounded out for left rear speaker. I could hear static when I did this, so I know the wiring from the head unit to the speaker is fine.
I also looked in my owners manual. I also checked fuse (#28) in the passenger IP toe-board and found o.k., but I am not sure how to check the relay (#45) and whether this has anything to do with the rear speakers and are just for the door Bose only.
I also read in another thread that the CD Changer hooks into the Toe-board IP Fuse Panel. I'm not sure if the car orginally had equipped, but I've found a loose cable running under the carpet by the door frame. Could this have anything to do with cutting out the rear speakers? Is it perhaps none of these things and it is just the head unit?
This is my 2nd Vette (I also own an 89 Blk Coupe) and would like to keep things stock, so I'm reluctant to install an aftermarket stereo. Any help out there is appreciated.
Thanks!
