This tragedy could have been avoided. As a PSA, some tips I would encourage Corvette owners to take from this picture and remember before surrendering to mod fever:
- Have a plan in mind for what the finished product will look like. Ad hoc looks ad hoc.
- Buy quality parts and if you don't know how to do the install, consult a professional.
- Do not, under any circumstances, put someone from California in charge of your Corvette exterior modification project. In the words of writer Dom Delillo, "Californians invented the concept of 'lifestyle.' This alone warrants their doom."

. . . it must be said. A rear wing on a Corvette is stupid.

In fact, 95% of all exterior mods, excluding wheels, on a Corvette are stupid and make their owners look like some kind of Tom Jones wanabe.

A Corvette is a dramatically styled vehicle. It is already extreme when it leaves the assembly line. Part of the magic and the attraction is that it pushes wild right up to the edge, just before it reaches over-the-top ridiculous. That is why a Corvette looks extremely cool. Anything you do trying to make it more extreme takes it past this fine line Chevrolet has carefully reached and makes you look like a douche bag.
