I own a '75 L-48. I know, I know.

Anyhow, When driving at night with the lights on, the right rear tail light turns off when the brake is applied rather than getting brighter. It just doesn't turn on when driving during the day. I fiddled with it, bought a new bulb and still no result. If anyone has any info on this type of problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
- James :)

Check the grounds on the rear frame rail at the rear of the car, also check the grounds in the rear bulb sockets!! You have a OPEN ground back there somewhere!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

A. You've got a single element bulb instead of a double element.
B. Bulb is correct, but not correctly installed in the socket.

:)

Nothing wrong with '75 L48's :)

I hate electrics, the guys above probably have the answers. I was initially thinking it was a bad or misaligned brake switch but upon further reading I agree it could be a bad ground or incorrect bulb.

James, Welcome to the :CAC

Feel free to stop in to the New Member Introduction forum and say Hello to everyone!

As for the answer to your question, it's likely one of the previous posts. If not, then try this and report back: What happens if you apply the brake and put on the turn signal? Turn signal without the brake applied?

Turns out, the housing was wired incorrectly and one of the contacts was pushed in. Thanks for the help.
