Recurring Power Drain

my fathers 07 goes down after a while sitting but never just after 2 days... but he got the same story about why it was dieing from 2 seperate dealerships..... i did go out and get him a battery tender cause he was getting ticked off at losing all his presets whe the battery went down...... i think if it sits for like 2 weeks its dead..(during the summer months) but that doesnt happen much.....

If you pay 50G plus for a car and the battery is dead in two weeks or less I think GM should fix the problem not say hook up a charger. If it needs pluged in all the time put the charger with a plug installed at the factory and a disconect when the wife goes to the store and dosen't unplug it. A car should start after a month of setting.

The good news is that the power drain was put down to the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver. As C4C5Specialist pointed out, there was a Technical Service Bulletin on this, and the first dealer I took it to apparently did not know about this. Fortunately, the second dealer did, and diagnosed the programming flaw in the RCDLR as the problem. It was fixed and back to me in half a day.

Since your not :argue any more, I guess reprogramming the RCDLR fixed your issue?

All appears to be correct and working, so I'm a happy camper.

And the fact is, GM WOULD NEVER tell you to get a battery tender.
That comes from DEALERSHIPS who dont want to get involved.
GM, due to the 10-20 milliamp draw, states that the car can sit about a month without being drained.
Because the memory of the computer modules ALWAYS draws something, but it should NEVER go dead in a week or 2 weeks.
Some c6 do sit for more than a month between uses and thats why its recommended to remove the negative battery cable if you are storing for longer than that.
Allthebest, c4c5

Even my favorite dealership service department doesn't routinely check the TSB's to see if any of their customers are effected by them. I find out about TSB's here and take them to my dealer so I can get my cars fixed right. And my service writer wonders why I check "Very Satisfied" rather than "Completely Satisfied" on those damn GM surveys.

Dead battery

Thanks Patrick, Going back to dealer later this week and I will have them check the modules you referred to. We will see
