Remove MAF screens on B2k?

Look in the C4 Sourcebook. It should add about 5HP to what you have.

I am unsure in the fact its a forced induction car has any bearing on whether or not to do this mod.

Basic fuel injected tricks for horsepower apply here. Just be aware that there are reports of the car not idling as smoothly without the screens. Have I done it to my TT? Nope. Is it one of the speed tricks for free horsepower? Yeap.

I asked Sam (8388) about this....he did it on his 88 and noticed no difference in driveablility. I'll probably do this. You can get a rebuild MAF from Autozone for $85.

Surf, I removed one of the two screens on mine (the first one). I only did one just in case some debris found its's way in. I have found on more than a few occasions the ears broken on the stock air filter box and didn't want to take a chance of a turbo ingesting some plastic. However in your application I think it would be ok to remove both screens because the Callaway air box construction is superior and is not likely to break. I did this on my old Callaway, it had no ill effects- but I didn't notice much of a power gain. As far as buying an already altered MAF- don't waste your money. Remove the screens from your existing MAF, it's very simple. Grab the screen with a pair of plyers and twist, this will get you started. Be sure to remove the entire screen and the metal rings that are recessed into the MAF housing. The ring may also come out when you remove the screens as the screen and ring are actually one piece but sometimes the screen rips away from the ring when removing.
