Hello,

I just bought my first vette and it's an 85. Where i currentky live we don't have any emmisions to deal with, so i was wanting to remove the air system and the idler pulley. I know i'll have to get a shorter belt and maybe modify a bracket for the alt tensioner. What i don't know is what happens when i unhook and get rid of the air management valve ? It looks like part of the ecm hooks into this ? Once again this computer controlled deal is new to me so sorry if this is a stupid question.

Also any idea what the seats and tires and rims are worth ?

thanks in advance for any info.

Im thinking of doing the same as soon as my headers get here. I know that you will have to have the puter reprogrammed. I also think that there is a kit for your year car to help do this, I could be wrong though.:)

I know it is difficult to do in an '84.....they say you need an '85 altn. braket and something to hook up your pwr. streeing pump to....but on your vette...should be a straight fwd. install....
Do you think it is worth it......What about the smog nazi's??? This info was taken from Corvette Central's catalog...

air evac

I'm one of the lucky ones and that i don't have any emmisions to
deal with here. My concern was what about all the air controll valves( there are 2) that the hoses and ecm hook up to. I
want to do this to clean up the crammed mess that GM made when they built the car. I put 2.5 duals on last night with these raven mufflers and the thing sounds great, and no cat!!!

So what do i do with the air controll valves ?

It is against the law to remove or alter the factory exhaust system per the Federal EPA Clean Air Act Section 203. Section 205 contains the penalty which is $25,000.00 a day per incident Regardless whether or not Indiana has an emissions law you are dealing with Federal Law.
Now if the car has over 50,000 miles it is permissible to replace the cat with an approved one. You are better off leaving it in place, sooner or later they will start emissions testing and then it will cost you.
