Welcome!

It's Chevy, and a dealer or most any good mechanic should have no problem with 95% of the repair issues. The manual transmission is the only issue I can think of that might call for a a little model specific knowledge, but I may be forgetting something. Enjoy it!:thumb

I called my local chevy dealer to see if could work on her cause i ran into another c4 owner and asked what he did and HE told me to NEVER go to our local dealer cause they don't do nothing but play games so i did call and just asked how much for a oil change the service manager told me over the phone WE DON'T WORK ON ANY CAR AFTER 96 i know wow so it looks like i need other options before she runs into a problem so any help is appreciated thanks

"WE DON'T WORK ON ANY CAR AFTER 96"

What does that even mean?

I guess we was saying that since my car was made BEFORE 1996 that they won't work on it at least that's how i took it

Well Eric, that's a new one on me! I never heard of any shop (let alone an authorized dealer) turning down a simple oil change for any reason, but that doesn't alter the fact that the Vette can be serviced by any competent mechanic. They aren't that exotic, which is why they are so popular. Bakersfield is a good sized city, so check with other owners or find one of the local Corvette clubs. They will let you know whop works on their cars.

I'm with you thinking the same thing IT SHOULD NOT BE DIFFICULT i mean come on i also have a 82 jeep j-10 gladiator (try to find parts for a full size jeep) but the jeep dealership over here can fix anything on it no problem and they are right across the street so go figure my friend is a attorney and he said they probably trashed someone's older car and got sued for it i don't know and the guy i talked to with the 89 coupe said he trailers his to various shops in L.A so yeah I'm with you COME ON BAKERSFIELD get it together

It sounds to me that this particular dealer must have had some problems in the past with other customers. My experiences with Chevrolet dealers have always been positive. Years ago, I was traveling through the state of Virginia and had a drivability problem with my 1984. I suspected the condition was related to the ignition module inside the distributor. A relatively minor issue. I called a local shop and was told by the mechanic there that, "We don't work on them rare dogs." He did suggest the local Chevrolet dealer. I checked with them and they were great. They sent a tow truck to my hotel at no charge, and called me an hour later with the diagnosis. They replaced the offending module and, after paying a very fair price for the repairs, I was back on the road that afternoon. To this day, whenever I am traveling through that area, I like to stop in and say hi to the friendly folks that helped me out back then.

Eric2316, Welcome to the group. Hope you find a good shop soon.

I guess your right about the dealership and i know that vettes aren't too difficult to work on (unless your a full size man replaced my stop light switch and had to drop the top and hang my legs over the top to get under the dash what a fun day that was) it just sucks that i live in bakersfield ca and their are no real certified mechanics (look it up not many out their) so i guess I'll just have to do what every other c4 and older vette owners do trailer her out of town and by the way the local corvette club is located at the dealership 😁 go figure nice z06 by the way what is that blue called

Thanks, Eric. My Z06 is one of the Commemorative Editions for 2004. The color is LeMans Blue. It was only used on the CE that year which included coupes and convertibles.

Never heard of that edition this 86 pace car is my first vette so i am new to the vette world but man i would like to get that blue on my boat
