I would like to put back my '69 as original. I've had the custom nose on it since the mid 70's but my tastes have changed and I think I now want the pop ups back. My question(s) are:

1. Can I just take the molding strip off and attach the top hood press molded surround piece and put on a new bonding strip?

2. Put on the laminated door to door piece?

or

3. Go for the high $$$ press molded door to door piece

Anyone ever went one of these routes? Thanks, Fred

If I were you I would get the press molded frontend and recoupe some of your money by selling your old frontend. It would also minimize your body work. Be prepared to drop 3-500 each on pop-up headlights.

From the pix, it looks like you will need more than just the hood surround panel.

The pricey front end ($3K) will save some work since the inner fender panels are already bonded to it.

The regular front end is worth the money provided you leave your original inner skirts on the car and use them to assist with alignment of the new front end.

You could potentially sell your existing front clip as a Baldwin-Motion clone.

Geeze 2006 this post started:chuckle, time sure goes by slow doesn't it:eyerole. Project was stalled till July of last year at which point I started stripping the paint (no chemicals) off the body. Spent about a month's worth of spare time on it. Got back into it in February or so of this year. Want to do body mounts, trailing arm bushings and timing chain/gear before I get back into the body. I figure I'll let the body mount bolts soak for at least a week (or 2) before I try getting them off.

Funny that you resurrect this thread and the last post mentioned you possibly having a Baldwin-Motion hood. B-M hoods just came up in another thread around here somewhere. Maybe you and the guy that started that particular thread should contact each other!
If you do a forum search for baldwin, you'll likely find the recent thread. (if you care...)
