I want to replace my present "Electric" Water Temp & Oil Pressure gauges with "Mechanical" ones. I'm sure that someone has already done this to their Vette.

I have a 78 and would like to know what size and brand of gage will fit into the existing gauge openings. Also I will install tee fittings so that I can use the existing "Electric" sending units to power some additional Idiot Lights.

I have another question also. I'm going to replace my existing Radiator Fan with a 18" Perma-Cool Stainless Steel Flex Fan. Has anyone used one of these and if so what do you think about them. Also my engine is a 406 CI with a HD Radiator and a stock shroud. What size Fan Spacer should I use. There is about 4" from the water pump mounting flange to the closest part of my shroud so I think that a 2.25" would work but I'm looking for advise. Lastly has anyone used any of those Radiator Cooler Additives such a "Purple Ice" , "NOS Super Coolant", "Water Wetter" , etc. Do they work or is it just "Snake Oil"

Thanks in Advance for your help.:confused :confused :confused

2 1/6" gauges fit into the stock holes nicely. I put an o-ring on each of my gauges so that they had a nice seat in the stock bezel. The o-ring also helps lock them in place when you tighten the bracket on the back of the gauge. I'm using Auto Meter Sport Comp gauges. There are quite a few here that use their Ultra Lite series.

Water Wetter is the real deal.
