Resonance-reduction material

I see Mid America has anounced a "new item" for C4's to reduce noise in the cabin. This is a fabric designed to absorb sound. My question is, where would be the best place to put it? My first thought would be in the area behind the driver and passenger. But, the subject material comes with a can of heat- resistant adhesive. Clearly a heat-resistant adhesive would not be required in the interior of the car. Where do you think the best place for this material, assuming it works, would be...glue it to the top of mufflers??

Noise suppression

It makes sense to me that most of the road noise would be coming into the cabin through the rear wheel wells. I haven't seen the product your talking about though so I'm not sure about the installation. Perhaps someone with a little more knowledge of this will add their 2 cents. Good luck.

put on a set of Flowmaster delta flow 50 series and your interior resonance will be elimnated, and still sound awesome when nailed. My opinion is resonance material is crap.

If you want to reduce interior noise, it will require a comprehensive approach, since there are several places where road noise comes from: floor pans, doors, rear deck, wheel wells, console, etc. I venture to guess that you won't notice much of a difference by targeting just one of these areas. There are several types of noise reduction products, dynamat, b-quiet extreme, etc, lots of people completely remove the interior and cover everything with the stuff. This is the best approach to significantly reduce road noise.

Interesting note, on my old car I used a sound-reduction product on everything except the doors, and I could tell the stuff really worked..why? Because after I was done, most of the road noise came from the doors. So I did the doors too and my car was MUCH quieter.

If the vette is most noisy between 16 to 2000 Rs it is best removed by an exhaust change. The corsa cat. back pulse power system is awsome for this purpose. I have it on one of my 88s and cant wait to install one on the other. Best price I found was on this site Good Luck Jim http://www.partsandaccessories.com

I fat-matted the heck out of my car and the biggest change was the weight of the car.

By adding thickness, the resonance frequency of the panel is altered (lowered), but the (sweet?) engine noise seems unstoppable in this case.

I plan to pull much of the material out.

Thanks, but the new Borla system just installed is at the root of the problem and I'm not looking to spend that kind of money again to see if it "might" solve the problem. There must be an other way. As in my original post, MAM is selling this heat resistant glue with their padding. Why?

Cant help with with glue but Back to exhaust,I would call Corsa and explain problem sometimes changing just the pipe between the cats & mufflers is enough. You didnt say if most noise is between 15& 2000 Rs, if it is Corsa system (would) solve your problem not (might) or Ill buy it from you. I know your focused on the insulation now so I wish you the best. Jim

Check out this thread I found on another Corvette site.

This is another helpful thread:

I just received the pre-cut kit from Exotic Vette. I am going to buy the ensolite from RAMMaudio.

Last year I removed the rear inner fenders and used the expanding foam insulation between the chassis and the body. Made a big difference.

Now I am going to do the interior, including the console and the doors. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
