The guy that bought my 90 called me last night with the hp results from testing the motor.

It laid down 378 rwhp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He has been doing some tweaking, but just timing and fuel pressure.

This car was still running the stock chip!

Anyway...I knew it was cranking some major go...I just never got a good chance to test it out.

It would suck the headlights our of our 2000 six speed.

So, there you have it.

That is so awesome! Did the '90 pass the emissions? I remember you said that it was possible for it not to pass emissions.

Did the new owner ever take it to the strip? If he did, what was his ET?

The car is non-emission.

I am now a bit confused, as I am not 100% sure he was claiming rwhp. It may be flywheel. Eitherway, that is a heck of a lot of power for any street car.

He called me last night. I guess the battery light was on and off all day, but he did not really pay attention to it until the car left him stranded at midnight. I tried to help him via phone, but I was half asleep.

I guess I will get more details if I see him for the Octobervette show this next weekend. I will have to get him to confirm the rwhp vs. flywheel power ratings.

He said the only two cars that have beat him on the street was a Z06 that jumped him on a rolling run that was already over 60 mph when they started, and a highly modfifed s/c cobra. Driver error played into both of those defeats as well.

Judging from the lack of tread left on the tires (which had looked new when I sold it to him), he is indeed pushing the miniram to its limit, then pushing the brakes to the limit on the flipside. I guess that is what it is all about.

How do you guys get away with a non-emissions vehicle in FL? Here in IL, they won't sell you a registration sticker unless you've passed the emissions test. You could drive without being registered, but you're just asking for trouble.

Really?!? My vette is non-emissions compliant. No cats, EGR or AIR. I have a waiver but limits me to drive the vette only like 3000 a year.

in FL. I thought the Gov. got rid of emissions testing.

Anyway, Chris, I have a feeling the 378hp is Flywheel HP not RWHP.

Your 90 and my 89 were really close I am around the same Flywheel HP.

But I couldn't stand to drive the Vette' for less than 3,000 a year anyway!:L:L:L

the 378hp is at the wheels and there is no emisions here in fl and everything is up and going in the 90 for now

Cook or Du Page should not matter honestly. I am in Du Page. but the License plate sticker is directly from the State not County. Same with the Waiver, State wide, not County.

I just had my 79 emissions tested this past Friday and it passed with flying colors!

I think the emissions testing is done only in areas where the EPA deems a threat to air pollution, like in the Chicago area. I have a friend that lives in Jacksonville, 20 miles west of Springfield, IL and they don't test cars down there.

I have seen cars at car shows with the testing waivers and always wondered how they got them (I don't want one, just wondering).

Cool! I forgot to ask you about it while at OctoberVette.

They don't test in Duval County anymore.

However, I am fairly certain that with the stock chip, lowered fuel pressure and cats installed the car would pass a sniff test. The cam is Cranes compucam series and is emission legal.

The air pump is free wheeling but could be hooked back up with minimal trouble if needed.
