How many of you have mastered the art? Heel toe, the only way to go.

I have had my Z06 for a week or two now and think that today I hit the match perfectly every shift. I was braking for an exit ramp from about 90MPH, I blipped and downshifted every time and the sweet music of gears meshing perfectly met my ears every time.

I LOVE MY Z06!!!!!!!

You only need to "heel and toe" if you're also braking while you downshift. If you're doing a double-clutch backshift but not braking, then heel/toe is just a useless contortion.

It takes continued practice to keep it up.

One more reason to drive the Vette often - to stay in practice! ;)

I throttle match on every down shift, braking or not. I look at it like this, less stress on the clutch than down shifting and easing the clutch out, thus using it as a "brake". Also, why double cutch when we have synchros?

I also do not use my heel, but the edge of my foot, I have super wides so it works out fine for me.

You double clutch to:
1) reduce shock to the driveline which can cause the rear wheels to lock momentarily when you come off the clutch after the downshfit
2) increase syncho life
3) increase clutch life
4) in some cases, quicken the down shift.

I've rev matched and used H&T when necessary since I ran my first autocross 45 years ago. It's second nature me now (like breathing out and breathing in - obscure Broadway reference?). I'm still trying to get my wife to rev match (H&T is out of the question). I know downshifting while slowing down wastes gas, but the Borlas do sound good! I does frustrate me though, when the designers don't set up the pedals correctly. So far the C-5 seems to be pretty well spaced for me.

this is why we rev match. Cure for all four items you mention not to mention when cornering if you must downshift rev matching keeps the car stable.

yessir the Borlas barking is a wonderful sound when downshifting and matching the engine speed up to the tranny.
