Have any of you rewired the 4+3? I am studying the diagrams and think I have a simple solution, to cure a control issue, and simplify same.

I actually like the stock logic of the unit, except for the sudden OFF in 2nd or 3rd, at 50 and 60 mph, respectively. I REALLY LIKE the kickdown, but would settle for either:
-only O/D in 4th (third choice), OR
-no O/D in first gear (second choice), only.

I had the OD in my 4+3 rewired or should I say re routed? The dealer I bought it from ran wires to a switch on my console. Now, the OD only comes on when I turn on the switch. So I can have OD whenever I want... or not! I beleive the two wires came from the switch that is at the base of the shifter. This switch normally engages the OD when you press the button at the top of the shifter. By doing this mod, I now only use OD as the fifth gear and I was able to put on a nice aftermarket shift knob(:

The re-wire I did several years ago involved the plug mounted on the side of the unit itself. Not the shifter switch. I'm not sure how simply rerouting the switch would make any difference in the operation though. "Jumping" the two wires on the unit gives me OD in all gears, still has the downshift under WOT as well as auto engangement at high speed. About the only glitch I have is when first started after being parked all week is that it goes into OD by itself at 122 degrees water temp. Once I click out of that it's fine.
