hello everybody. my headlights pop up just fine but the right side seems to stop about 2 inches shorter than the drivers side. it just doesn't go all the way up. what do you think is happening? thanks, curley:cool

Most likely the 3 plastic bushings inside the motor are toast, or more correctly, powder. Do a search and you will probably find a 100 posts on fixing the problem. Same thing happened to me. Just bite the bullet and do both because once one goes out, the other is soon to follow.

HI RON, i took the thing apart and the bushings are in pretty good shape. they are nylon i think and look really good. the headlight stops 3/4 of the way up (or open) and this is the thing that is odd. the drivers side goes all the way up and down perfectly. another thing is that once i put the headlight back on and connect the battery cable the manual open/close knob on the problem light spins around like crazy for about 10 seconds (weird). but both lights work well enough to allow me to drive in the dark, even though my high beams are stuck! i try to pull the turn signal arm back to go to normal beams but i hear no click and they stay on. what do you think on that one??:cool

Did you take the headlight motor apart ? What I mean by that is remove the cover plate on the motor and the inside gear ?

Curley2,

You can do a search on the headlights and hopefully you can find some help for your problem. In my case the manual knob spun around like crazy and that was the indication that the plastic bushings were powder. The bushings I'm talking about look kind of like a small piece of chalk. Hopefully that is what you were looking at.

I'm not sure what the problem would be for yours as you describe but hopefully someone will chime in and help. I exhausted all my knowledge on the subject but there are a lot of smart people here.

Good luck.
