rocker panel mods for hooker side-pipes?

Finally got her back, wanted to know the best way to modify the aluminum rocker cover. I thought about making a template, and the (carefully) grinding out the area. Also it seems the the two sides have slightly different clearences, any thoughts??? Jon

Wow, that looks nice!

Hooker header sidepipes are the best looking pipes anyone can put on a C3. In Vette magazine, I think around last Feb. they had a detailed article about installing those pipes on C3s. When they put the rocker panels back on, they had to notch parts of it to clear the pipes. If I remember right, they even had a template of how to notch them. When I get home this afternoon, I will look it up for you and scan it.

when I did mine there was a template or drawing with dimentions with Hookers instructions, can't remember which its been 3+ years, looked for them but could not find. Should be able to contact Hooker for them though

I found the article. It was in Vette magazine, Jan 2003.
Bossvette is right, the article says that there was a template that should have come with the headers. I scanned the pictures from the article, but the file is too big to post. I will try to scan it again, but smaller so you can see it. I will have it up sometime tonight.

Be sure and post the final pictures once you are done. Learn to step a little wider getting in and out to save the legs.

The Hookers really are the best looking side pipes on a Vette. You'll love the sound and look.

I tried to save money buying the basic black and have to repaint them every year, this year I used Eastwoods header coating and it is holding up better than High temp paint. someday (this winter) I will get them coated

I just installed the Hooker Pipes on my LT-1 awsome!. I didny have to cut the rocker panels. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. While you are at it, Shark Tank sells shileds that look cool and save the burns on your legs.
