Hi fellow Z-owners,
I'm about to become a member of the "Knights of the Plenum Removers". Yes the plague of the plenum....okay I'll stop! It just makes me laugh enough to lighten up my plight. I have some questions only a rookie would ask. I understand the tests to do & have done them & the answer is it's not the pump!
1) will this leak cause other failures?
2) If key is in valet mode this isolates the vacuum leak from the rest of the motor? Unplug the pump till I get the parts to do the work & no harm done?
3) #2 is incorrect thinking, don't use car until repair is done as other damage can occur? You can't leave the key in valet mode & think the motor will be safe to move the car even in & out of the garage, let alone drive it in valet mode?
4) Value judgement question: Parts under there are becomming scarce so buy everything before it's too late? The plenum don't have velcro so I'm thinking everything except the starter and maybe the injectors.
See I said these are Q's only a rookie would ask! My local chevy dealer don't even have the clutch fluid! Says I gotta buy the case! I'm motivated in my thinking by the stuff the parts guy @ local dealer said are NLA. He spent about an hour looking up parts when I was there to get plugs, PCV's, A/F, F/F, which in my car were all labeled with old P/N's. I saved the stuff I took out cause it was all Delco & I think it was OE! Anyway, thanks for any light thrown my way! Tom:confused
P. S. Rob thanks for the plenum write-up!!!

Knowledge gained

Hi All, I withdraw my questions after re-reading Rob's outline on the SPV system and reading the Helm manual again and some input from other Z owners. I just didn't understand the system enough to be competent enough to diagnoise it's operation. Tom:) .
