rough idle after racing

made a few passes down the 1/4 mile last nite. the next morning my idle was real rough. it was almost a pulsating feeling. i have a 91 auto with a kn air filter and borla exhaust. the car has 54k miles and never gave me problem till now. checked for loose vacuum hoses but found none. the car runs fine when im at speed. please help.

I would start by checking the plugs and wires. Maybe time for a tuneup.....

Welcome to the Corvette Action Center.

Didn't over rev it did you? Hydraulic lifters can pump up and actually hold the valves open until they bleed down. This usually only takes a couple minutes though. Of course other consequences of floating the valves are bent push rods, bent valves and collapsed valve springs. If your car has press in rocker studs you might have pulled a stud. You might not notice the effects of one valve not opperating properly at road speed but it will be obvious at idle.

Let's hope that a plug wire just came off.
