My digital RPM indications are normal up to around 1500RPM but start to jump at higher RPMs. Anyone had a problem like this and know what the problem might be??

Check your plug wires.

I had the same or similar problem in my 1988 Callaway. The digital tachometer would read higher than actual and erratically. It appeared to be "normal" at idle.
I can't offer you the exact fix, but when I had my motor out and put back in the problem disappeared. This would leave me to believe it is a wiring/grounding issue or wiring harness connector making poor contact. I have limited knowledge in this area. However, this eliminates the digital dash as the problem.
