Hey Gang,

Being new to C5 ownership, I have a question regarding tire pressure.

I notice the PSI rating is 44 PSI. Is that correct? Naturally I'm more acustomed standard 32-36 PSI pressures.

Can anyone confirm this for me?

Thanks,

Midnight

The proper PSI is on the driver door jamb label. It should correctly be set from 28-32 like you suspect. However, it has been nearly 6 months since I have checked my tires! I think the 44psi is the max pressure capability of the tire as listed on the sidewall.

Due home this week though. Unless it changes!

Midnight--

Yes, yellow_2002 is right-- that 44psi rating is for the maximum weight load that the tire could handle. It is not the range where you should normally pressurize your tires. The stock Goodyear EMTs are spec'd for 30psi. I have the Firehawk EMTs, but I run them the same...30psi cold. Under use when they've warmed up, they tend to get up to around 34-35 psi. I think you want to make sure that your tires are around 30 psi early in the morning when they've been sitting overnight. That way, they won't cool off further (from when you checked them) and be underinflated.

Hope this helps!

i follow the exact same procedure, and if you race at the track, the same psi works,run-craps dont respond well to lowering the pressure, they will'cup'in the middle if to low.later,Todd.

PSI - Thanks!

Thanks for the input PSI guys! It helps a great deal. I left them at 32 not knowing for sure about the 44psi.

I'll back them off 2 psi down to 30 and give myself some expansion room while driving.

:cool
