CorvetteWave,

Pull the battery and tray (easy - 4 bolts) yourself and take a look. Acid damage is VERY obvious, and it has an "oily" feel. You may have acid damage from a prior battery leak and not know it.

Good luck.

In addition to all of the other excellent advice (pull the battery and look for yourself) just be sure to keep all of your service receipts. Not just for the next lucky owner of this car, but in case you do end up having a problem after the warranty expires. Chances are if you can prove that you had the problem under warranty but it was never properly diagnosed or repaired, you can get the dealership to eat it later.

BTDT with my Grand National - I complained several times of poor shifting into 3rd, but they always said "no problem found." Years later, after the warranty had expired, I was drag racing and the transmission gave it up and wouldn't get out of second. With my records in hand, I discussed this with the service manager and we agreed that they should fix it under warranty... I kicked in $100 and they rebuilt the transmission.

Thanks to all for the great advise. I will be taking my vette to a local garage early next week for assistance in removing the battery and tray for a look. I have kept all receipts and will certainly remind them in the future if I find problems.
