My C6 rear rotors have a rust ring where the pads do not touch. Anyone have a thought about how to get rid of this? It is just unsightly. I have the Z51 option.

What I usually do is remove the rotor from the car and scrub rust away with scothpad or brillo pad. Then I make a template out of poster board or even newspaper will do. The template will cover the rotor where the pad rides but leave everything else exposed. Then you can paint the rest of the rotor either clear or any contrasting color of your choice.

heat?

Thanks for the advice. Have you had any problem with the heat of the rotor burning the paint off?

No, I usually use high heat paint. I just recently found caliper paint at pepboys. Seems to hold up well for a spray can.

yea, Auto Zone, walMart and Advanced Auto Parts all sell high temp caliper paint.
I am about to paint the rotors black. Its ok (and suggested) to over lap into the path of the brake pad. The brake pad will rub off all excess paint and you will have a clean paint line after driving the car the first time.
