Thank you, YES, I am very thankfull that no one got hurt, the house didn't burn down or any of the other possible things that could have happened.

Rick,
I'm really sorry about your car. Your ride was a really nice one and I'm sure you are sick over it. Possibly it can be repaired with some new fenders and a hood. Maybe that corvette salvage yard in Dade City can help. Might have some of the front end parts that were ruined by the heat such as radiator and firewall.
Good luck with the Insurance company.

Roy

you said the car was off (witch I belive) but when you look at this pic you can clearly see the engine was atleast spinning over if not running during the fire! If you can't see it ask me.

Which pic? How do you know?

Here's a pic looking toward the front. The radiator shroud is melted down over the crossover.

I don't see it on 25. What are you looking at.

I still see the same thing only clearer!

Here's a pic looking toward the firewall where the starter wiring should have been. I'm looking for another pic. also.

Starter ???

Here are some pics I just shot of the starter area. Would this shed some light?

Another.....

More........

Last one. And it is the last one. I went to try to open the hood and the cable snapped. So.....what I've got is it.

Sorry to see that happen !!! I hope it is fixable...I replaced the stock carb on a 66 that I had. The steel fuel line from the pump to the new carb would not work. So, I had a buddy bend up all new steel line. He say's that it is not hard to do. Just get a tubing bender at the home store, a flaring tool and tube cutter. Then the diameter line and fittings that you need and bend your own. Or, there is advertisement in Corvette Fever and Chevy Hi Perf, from a vendor that bends cutom lines for you. Great piece of mind.

I have heard bad things about cheap fuel filters...Do you think that yours could have cracked due to heat and poured fuel ?

Hope all works out well ! Let us know, if you determine the source.
