How do you get the seat back upholstery out of the fiberglass bucket, are there clips or??? I have to repair the bucket and need to remove the upholstery so I don't get the repair material on it.
Thanks

:w there,

As I recall... you need to go in from the side and move a wire that clips into the back of the frame. The wire attaches at near the bottom of the back and near the top. Sometimes you can push on the side bolster to get it to release, but you might need to use a long (8" or so) to get in behind the seat to push the wire toward the center of the seat back to release it.

Thanks for the quick reply, I was trying from the top and bottom , didn't think about the sides, I knew someone here would be able to help
Thanks

Getting them out is the easy part. Snapping them back in can be a PITA. AIM shows a picture of the installation, but it isn't all that much help. I ground a small slot in the tip of a good-size screw driver to use as a tool to work the listing wire back over the clips.

You'll hear them when they pop in.

:)

You are exactly right Mike. I just finished putting an entire new interior in my 1981 Dark Blue Vette and I used a grinder to cut a notch in the end of a screwdriver. After I did this I had the seat backs in place in 5 minutes. Of course I spend an hour cussing, as I tried to pop them in before I made the tool. :-) Note: If you don't have a tool or make a tool I don't think you will ever get them in place correctly.
