I just bought new 3 point seat belts to replace my factory originals that no longer work. I've started removal of the old belts on the driver side and am having trouble with the bolt underneath the seat that secures the lower retractor.

I've soaked the bolt in penetrating lube so far...but do you guys have any other suggestions for getting this bolt out?

From past experiences what ive had to do on other cars is use a 1/2" impact gun. if you dont have the torque you might end up stripping the bolt or snap it. Good luck,

Trevor

I don't know if it is at all like on my 81, with a torx head. I ended up stripping out the head of mine and ultimately ended up putting a pipe-wrench to it to get it to let go. I then had to buy a new one to replace it. Hope that helps.

thanks for the input guys. I ended up buying a 1/2" electric impact gun from Harbor Freight (on sale for only $39.99) and was able to back the bolt right out. Got the seat belts installed Friday evening! :thumb
