Security system on '82'

What activates/deactivates the system? Does it disable starting the engine?

The '82 is the same as the 1981, the '81 was the first year to have the iqnition intrupt, your car also has the T-Top, hood and doors alarmed. If you want to test your alarm system. leave the windows down set the alarm with the key door lock, then remove a T-Top or reach in through the open window and open the door

Activate:
Power door locks or door key lock will activate the alarm
Deactivate: Unlock Door lock key on either door.

Alarm condition: When Doors opened or T-Tops removed
Alarm: Horn sounds
Disabled: Ignition switch on column.

Possible causes of malfunction:
Alarm on- Sticky or loose door lock cylinders or Theft system relay.
Alarm not working- Door jamb switches, T-top switches or Theft system relay.
