Seeking CD-Radio retrofit for '80-'82Vettes...

-Wondering if anyone makes a truly proper retrofit Radio for an '80-'82Corvette which still employs the R&L-Knob spacing, while including the facia/entry-slot by which to play CD's directly built-in (remote-components not wanted); --or have such for sale? Please advise... ~Bob vH
;help ;shrug

I came up empty looking for the same set up. Keep us posted. All I can find is the cassette/radio.

My buddy next door just installed a wireless CD shuttle in his 1969 Ford FastBack. It works off a Low wattage FM Broadcast system.

The CD Shuttle is in the trunk, he tunes his radio to the FM station and picks up the CD tunes.
Nice system, and keeps the stock radio. Comes with a remote as well.

That's the route I would go.... (I know you said no remote... but...)

Hello Piet: -well, i'll have to ponder that wireless-thang, --really just want to KISS (keep it simple stupid) and fully-integrated without a bunch of other crap you know, -but since you can use your existing oem-radio it does have merit (what is the brand-name etc and cost? ~Bob vH

You have a leaping wolf in the mail....

The wireless thing is fairly easy to install.

1) Place unit in vehicle
2) Run power to it
3) Add CDs
4) Turn radio to specified FM channel
5) Avoid speed traps

However I can understand the desire to have it in the dash. The previous owner of my camaro project made the choise for me... He installed a newer unit in the dash.... no going back now!

I'm Looking too. I'm thinking about the new MP3 DVD players. One DVD holds over four Gigs, alot of music and it's a lot smaller than a CD changer. JBW

Put a nice deck in the dash.

If need be down the road, you can by a whole new bezzle for a $100 and go back to the stock unit.

CD radio

Bite the bullet and cut the hole bigger. The hole is smaller than a CD, so obviously there is not going to be a CD radio that fits the original opening.
