Separating the 4+3

I am about to send my OD off for a rebuild. Are there any tricks or things to look out for when I separate the overdrive from the 4 speed? Thanks in advance.

I don't recall any, but expect the reverse gear, which rides on the long shaft that protrudes into the T-10 from the O/D, to clunk down inside the case. It''s NOT an issue.

This is a great time to closely inspect the teeth in the manual part. Use good lighting and magnification to carefully look for small cracks. I found wear-through and an amazing number of cracks. Second gear was the worst.
