My serpintine belt has started disintergrating. I have lost one of the grooves on the inside of the belt. When it goes it makes a terrible noise and beats the hell out of the engine compartment.
It is easy enough to change but the local Chevy parts place is closed. I went to the auto zone and they gave me a Goodyear belt. My original belt is ribbed on both sides. The replacement belt is only ribbed on one side.
Will the new belt work??? Or should I wait for the dealer to open on Monday??

No, don't use the single grooved belt.
The 92 has grooved pulleys everywhere and need the double grooved belt to work correctly.

The 92 belt and the early 93's used a dual ribbed belt. A single rib will fly off. I'm not suprised that AutoZone couldn't find the correct belt. Most of the chain stores like Shucks or AutoZone don't carry quality belts like AC Delco or Gates.

The GM part number should be 10186198 and the AC Delco belt is 6K802
