Serpentine Belt

What looked very easy, may not be after all.

Went to install a new serpentine belt and found i could not get it off past the Crank Pulley, The space between the pulley and the front cross frame member seems to be very close, maybe even abnormally close, is this normal, or just how close should it be?
:eek

On my 96...

I have about 1" to 1.5" between the rail and the balencer. I have an LT4 engine. I wouldn't expect you to have any thing different.

Hope it helps.

It is tight but the belt should slip through if turned sideways and slide the edge between the pulley and the crossmember.

tom...

My 84 was a PAIN 88 better

But you have JUST the width of the belt to snake it through... or you could unbolt the pulley!

Vig!

by width i assume you mean the thickness of the belt? Was surprised at the close clearance of the pulley. Oh Yeah, and next time i'll keep my finger out of the waay of the tensioner when i release it.... OUCH
